Milestone plan for a Olympic qualification dream in Rome

Milestones keep money and progress together. Backers fund the whole Olympic qualification dream, but money is released one milestone at a time, only after you show proof.

An Olympic qualification campaign needs training and a clear competition pathway. Show Backers the events, coaching blocks and travel stages being funded without implying selection is assured.

Example milestone plan

An example plan for a Olympic qualification dream with a goal of €36,000. Backers fund the whole goal, but each milestone's money stays held until you post the proof and Backers release it.

  1. Milestone 1

    €9,000 · 25%

    Map qualification campaign

Post the published qualification pathway, a season calendar and a costed first training block with personal details hidden.

  2. Milestone 2

    €9,000 · 25%

    Complete first training block

Share dated training attendance, coaching invoices and a progress review linked to the next planned competition phase.

  3. Milestone 3

    €9,000 · 25%

    Attend pathway competitions

Post competition entry records, travel receipts and published results where available, with private booking details hidden.

  4. Milestone 4

    €9,000 · 25%

    Review final campaign phase

Share final event records, remaining coaching receipts and a season review distinguishing results from selection decisions.

  1. 01

    Make every step provable

A milestone only works if a Backer can look at your proof and agree it is done. 'Buy equipment' is weak; 'equipment bought, receipt and photo posted' is strong.

  2. 02

    Order by risk

Put the cheapest, fastest step first. Each released milestone proves you deliver and funds the next. Leave the biggest amount for the step where most of the work is already done.

  3. 03

    Keep the amounts honest

Milestones must add up exactly to your goal. Price each step from real quotes, include tools and services, and split any step that is too big to prove in one go.

Risks to plan for

  • R1

    Pathway changes

Competition schedules or published qualification criteria may change mid-campaign. Review the pathway at each milestone and keep part of the travel budget uncommitted until dates are confirmed.

  • R2

    Equipment replacement

Specialist equipment may wear out or need adjustment during the season. Include servicing and replacement capacity in the budget and document readiness before major competition travel.

  • R3

    Selection is uncertain

Strong preparation does not guarantee qualification or selection. Tie every milestone to completed training and event participation, and state how the campaign closes if progression stops.

How Backers are protected

14-day review per milestone

When proof is posted, each Backer has 14 days to release their share or ask for more. Money not released in time goes back to the Backer.

15% fee, deducted — never added

Backers pay exactly what they choose. The 15% fee comes out of each backing: €100 gives the Dreamer €85. The fee is kept if money is returned.

Gifts, not shares

Backings are gifts. No shares, equity, interest or repayment, and Dreamers keep full ownership. Nothing on cohero is an investment or a loan.

Questions and answers

How many milestones should a Olympic qualification dream have?

Three to six works for most dreams. Fewer gives Backers little to review; more than seven makes each step feel small. The example plan on this page uses four.

Can I fund a campaign before qualifying for the Games?

Describe the dream as a qualification campaign and identify the published pathway you are pursuing. Show training and competition evidence along the way, while keeping qualification and selection separate from funded activities.

What proof works when competition results are disappointing?

Share the entry record, participation evidence and a factual review of the event. Backers should be able to assess the funded training and travel without treating a ranking, qualifying mark or selection decision as guaranteed.
